Ok here's the problem.
I was told that when sniffing out the competition it's useful to put a certain keyword in quotes and see how many results are seen on Google.
It's supposed to test how many entries are optimized for than term right?
So why is it that I can enter a unique term that may return only 500 -1000 results in google?
Yet when I look on the google keyword tool it says that the term has heavy competition.
I'm having trouble understanding exactly what I'm supposed to go by here.|||It definitely depends how you are entering the phrase into Google. With SEO and keyword research there are a lot of different variables that come in to play. If there are a lot of companies bidding for advertising for those words and that's pushing up the competition level (your using the adwords research tool I assume?).
I'd recommend looking into some introductory SEO and keyword research material to help get you started. It's a really good idea to get a good foundation of knowledge in SEO before you start spending money!!
