I am trying to find low competition keywords but my software %26amp; Google keyword tool can seem to find any keywords that can relate to any particular article I want to write.

But supposing your main keyword is mixed martial arts (which should have been in your site title by the way), you can use long-tail versions like "mixed martial arts techniques", "octagon style mixed martial arts" and so on.
Make the long-tail versions your primary keywords and the competitive versions your secondary keywords. In time you can also rank for the later.
Search engine spiders, by the way, may not know the connection between octagon or chaos and mixed martial arts. But since you have already chosen a name and URL, you should just make sure search engines find your keywords in the right places at your site and in your off-page SEO.
